This is the start of a long and fruitful collaboration between \u00d8gl\u00e6nd and Sach.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1904<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The brothers buy their first motorcycle, a German machine. Petrol had to be bought in bottles from a pharmacy and they had to go to the Victoria Hotel in Stavanger to charge the battery.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1906<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Progress in bicycle production is much greater than Jonas \u00d8gl\u00e6nd had predicted. The brothers and their father enter into a full partnership and focus on bicycles.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1906<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tidslinje.jaermuseet.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1906_4.-1906.-Polymobil-1904.-Tillatelse-fra_2-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1704\" \/>Lars and Jakob buy a car on their trip to Germany. A \u00abPolymobil\u00bb is purchased, transported by boat to Stavanger, and driven home by Lars. At Hinna, the car needs to be refilled with water. The top speed is approx. 20 km\/h.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1906<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tidslinje.jaermuseet.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1906_02.-1906.-JAEOF5077-Langgt.-6_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1009\" height=\"768\" \/>\u00d8gl\u00e6nd buys Langgt. 6 and the bicycle factory moves into its own premises for the first time. The workforce consists of 4-5 employees.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1909<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A new 2 \u00bd-storey building is built just behind the bicycle factory in Langgt. 6, where a nickel-plating, grinding and polishing workshop was set up. The aim is to become as self-sufficient as possible in production.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1911<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Nytt bygg i 2 \u00bd etasjer i Erling Skjalgssons gate 10. Bygget blir kalt \u00abAutomaten\u00bb p\u00e5 grunn av sine store automatdreiebenker.Sykkelfabrikken kj\u00f8per store deler av kvartalet Solaveien, Eidsvollsgata, Erling Skjalgssons gate og Storgata.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1912<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A single-storey forge building is built on the site in Solaveien.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1913<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tidslinje.jaermuseet.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1913_2.-Arbeidere-pa-sykkelfabrikken.-JAEOF5007_2-scaled.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1732\" \/>A new building is built in Solaveien; a large 2 \u00bd storey brick building with a floor area of 1565 square meters. The building houses the paint department, bicycle assembly and storage for frames and bicycles. It is popularly known as \u00abRammeverkstedet\u00bb.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1914<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The bicycle workers form their own trade union club. Around 55-60 of the bicycle factory's 95 employees join. Wage negotiations break down and the bicycle factory's first strike is a fact. After a three-week strike, the arbitration court accepts \u00d8gl\u00e6nd's view and the strike is called off. The club has not achieved anything and is closed down shortly afterwards.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1914<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In June, Jakob is on a shopping trip to Germany. During his stay, he receives news of the murder of the Austrian heir to the throne in Sarajevo. Jakob follows advice to purchase large orders before war breaks out.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1916<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Jakob's eldest son, Jonas Bjarne \u00d8gl\u00e6nd, travels to New York to gain practical business experience as a further education. Many necessary deliveries are made and Jonas Bjarne establishes his own purchasing office in the USA in 1917.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1918<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tidslinje.jaermuseet.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1918_3.1918.-Pa-utflukt.-JAEHS012.213.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1381\" height=\"793\" \/>Den 10. januar blir Norske Sykkelfabrikanter og Grossisters Forening stiftet. Foreningen hadde blant annet som form\u00e5l \u00e5 sikre jevne leveranser til sykkelfabrikkantene.\u00d8gl\u00e6nd feirer sitt 50-\u00e5rs jubileum.\u00d8gl\u00e6nd oppretter et hjelpefond for arbeiderne.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1921<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Major strike in Norway that also affects \u00d8gl\u00e6nd bicycle factory. The strike ends on June 10th, after about 14 days. The workers lose the strike and 13 employees are dismissed, the vast majority of whom were unionized. Throughout 1921, \u00d8gl\u00e6nd had to resort to further redundancies. The number of employees fell from 110 in 1920 to 58 at the end of the year. The recession and stronger competition from abroad put \u00d8gl\u00e6nd in a difficult situation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1923<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The market is turning somewhat, and \u00d8gl\u00e6nd is focusing even more on in-house production of bicycle parts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1925<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In the middle of the decade, \u00d8gl\u00e6nd starts making \u00abJunior\u00bb children's bikes. These are adapted for 5-12 year olds and become a success. Production of tricycles is also initiated.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1930<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This year, 4,895 bicycle frames will be produced. \u00d8gl\u00e6nd has approximately 40 % of the Norwegian market.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1931<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Jonas Bjarne \u00d8gl\u00e6nd kommer hjem fra New York og blir knyttet til sykkelfabrikkens ledelse.Jonas \u00d8gl\u00e6nd d\u00f8r, 84 \u00e5r gammel.
